**The big Blog Giveaway in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness is CLOSED (and the comment section has been closed on this post as well)! Thanks so much for playing along all during the month of October. Come back on Sunday morning the 1st of November to see if your name is announced as the winner!**
**This Post will remain at the top until midnight October 31st!! Please check below for current postings!**
Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October is something near and dear to my heart. There are way too many women suffering through breast cancer and while there are many advances in research and treatment, there is still so very far to go. So, if you have a chance to buy "pink" Breast Cancer Awareness products in October, spend a few extra pennies to do so and part of what you spend will be donated. Just watch for labels and such, and the pink color of things will give it away, too. We have already bought things like Northern toilet paper and Downy fabric softener that are specially labeled (the Downy bottle is actually pink instead of blue!!). I know that last year Target had pink M & Ms.......I confess that we bought many bags of them. I jumped at the chance for someone to tell me that it is okay to eat mass quantities of M & Ms!
Also, if you have been putting off going to your doctor to get your annual mammogram, please do it. Early detection is what has literally saved my life.....twice. I can't stress the importance of this enough times.
Now that I am done on my soapbox I know inquiring minds want to know what kind of giveaway I am doing. It is BIG!! Hundreds of dollars worth of stuff - stamp sets, stamp pads, Nestabilities, Sizzix embossing folders, etc. You could win the whole shebang by posting comments!! That means you will actually have to work to be entered in the giveaway and I hope you think it will be worth it. The more you post, the more times you will be entered in the giveaway but only one post per day will count! Conceivably, if you post every day this month you will be entered 31 times in the drawing. I've issued a personal challenge to myself to post something every day, which should help out your individual causes!! I'll have the drawing for the giveaway on November 1st.
Does that all make sense? If not, please ask.
Please remember that almost all of the die cutting/embossing machines on the market can be used with various manufacturers. So, if you have a Sizzix, for example, you can use Nestabilities dies........or if you have a Cuttlebug, the smaller Sizzix embossing folders like the ones I am giving away will work in it. Or you can pass these along to someone you know who owns a machine. Or request that she cut you some shapes or emboss some cardstock for you.

Wow, that is strnge my comment from yesterday did not show up. Anyway, My comment yesterday was saying that for 5 years now the doctors had been watching the spot on my mammograms. This past October I had another and the spot changed and grew what the doctors refer to as a tail. So that is why they then acted on the surgery.
See prior post! Thankfully no cancer seen!

Entering again today! A small post to talk about...when my last mammogram was done I was also doing a lot of other testing in regards to a pituitary glad tumor. Anyway one of the symptoms that you actually see is milk leakage in the breast. So when I was having my last mammogram done I thought that I should let the tech know that I may have a leakage. The nurse doing the procedure had answered back no need to worry about that because there are a large number of women that have milk leakage. I am thinking no not really unless you are pregnant. Yes, when at my endocrinologist appointment the doctor did say it was not supposed to have any leakage that it was a potential sign of other problems. In my case a tumor controlled we hope at this point by medication. In other cases breast milk leakage for a non pregnant female can be an early detection sign of breast cancer.
So please do not ignore things that you may deem unusual! Usually persuing things is the best answer!
Thank you again for spreading the word and I hope all things are going well with your treatments and everything you are enduring!
If anyone has questions in regards to what I have said please feel free to mail me!

Well Tuesday is my annual doctors appointment then off to make the mammogram appointment. I wonder what my insurance company will pay or not! I would hope that they pay the entire thing but since I had the surgery and stuff all in April I have no clue what they are going to say. Annual in October and why so long till the surgery time...The first doctor I was seeing thought that this was related to the pituitary gland tumor, the spot actually went from 10mm to 5mm in the 3 weeks that I was on the meds for the tumor. We then moved and I had to get an appointment with a new doctor! Man are the specialist busy! Anyway the appointment came and 2 weeks later we went on vacation. 3 days after vacation is when I went in for the surgery! I was totally convinced that there was going to be nothing because of the first shrinkage thing. In the end the doctor removed a 90mm x 20mm x 40mm section! My heart sank when they actually said oh yes the spot is still there! By the way I am sure you will agree a male made those boob tables and machines. I think they should have had to first try it out on their private parts to see how they liked it!

Now they guys have the broken wing club in the waiting room waiting for the surgery results. One thing though, we were the only ones that read or at least I was the only woman that read all the info that said 24 hours in the sling and then you can get rid of it. The other 2 ladies still had theirs on when we were all in the waiting room. Boy did they get mad at the hubbies when they read they could have nixed that sling 2 days ago. Again thanks for the candy offering!

Well my appointment was yesterday and things seemed to go well. For some reason as I am going through my paperwork today I have no orders for my mammogram so I guess I first will have to call and get one of those. No big deal, I will be back in the area withing 10 days for a consult, the doctor thinks I should have a hystorectomy to help control some other the other issues. So hopefully things will go well with that. Sounds like the beginning od December for we are going out of town for Thanksgiving! Getting close! Must do within the year for we have already met deductable for this year, why not pile it on more!
Thanks again for the offering. I saw today individual kleenex I care packages! First time I saw these!

Wow , I read the begining of your post and you inspired me to schedule my first mammogram;) I recently had a DNC and during the procedure a large mass of cancer was found in my uterus. The doctor burned out the intire lining of my uteran walls. It was very scary to have something like that and not know.. So Thank You,
Sincerely, Gina Marie

So I guess reality is hitting me today. I figured I better get this house cleaned so that it is not going to be such a mess. My parents have said that they would love to come down and help after the surgery which is going to be good.
I have been told by some other people that have had the surgery that they have recovered in like 2 days to moving around in 2 weeks. So I am also going to have to get all my holiday shopping done and then get some things together to keep me occupied during the days. Boxes of things put together to get ready to scrap. All cut and photos printed so I can just adhere and finish up the pages!
Again thanks for the spreading of the word and the awesome candy you have up for grabs.
Thanks!

So this last May my children both participated in the Relay for Life overnight fund raiser with their National Junior Honor Society group. Anyway, long story short on this we made cards for weeks prior to this to sell that night with all the proceeds to go to the Relay for Life. I am guessing that the children did not have the cards in a very prominate place because very few sold. Anyway, I had talked with the school principal on the Monday in regards to them being allowed to set up a table during lunch periods to sell the cards. She allowed it. Now we had made almost 100 mother day cards since it was the following weekend. In the end all but a couple sold and they donated the funds to the Relay since they had a week to turn the money. Strange but during the summer they both received a large envelope from our local sheriff department. They had both won an awrd for the Do The Right Thing program. It was all to deal with them and their work with the Relay! I was as usual the proud mom!
Sadly I was not able to run these booth with them for I was 2 weeks recovering from surgery!

I have to continue to enter the daily drawing since we have not had a paycheck since December, buying srafting goodies is just an out of the question option. So I try to win as many things as I can. Somehow the luck does not seem to be on my side.
We own a construction company. Does that just not say it all. We build custom homes. We have gone from 33 employees down to 1 1/2. We tried for so long not to have to lay off anyone, they are all like family (even not a one are related). So it broke our heart when reality came that somehow we needed to stop bleeding the funds that we are not receiving. We have one girl in the office part time and we have hired back one carpenter! Hopefully we get more jobs going soon. It is a lot better than the many many companies that have just completly closed their doors. Some that have been around as long as 30-40 years. Scale baack and restart. Well it looks like I have to head over to the jobsite and get things going. I get to play Superintendant again!
Thanks again for all you are doing to make people aware!

I saw the coolest pink thing yesterday...my son needed new shoes so we went to our local New Balance store. They have a special with any $100.00 pink purchase you receive a free pink pack. The pack has a pink and gray tennis shoe that is actually a thumbdrive! It is so cute! I just wish I had enough money to buy me an extra pair of shoes, socks or workout outfit! There is also a DVD and a lapel pin in the kit! I was so trying to get one with his $139.00 purchase! Oh well, just another neat thing out there! As always glad to hear that the test came out with awesome results and thank you for doing this!
